About Us


Formed in 1955 and incorporated under the Boards of Trade Act in 1958, the Upper Ottawa Valley Chamber of Commerce has continued to play an important role in the business community. The present day Chamber of Commerce was actually preceded by the Pembroke Board of Trade which has been dated back to at least 1903.

The Chamber has become very active over the last few years, hosting numerous events such as our monthly breakfast seminars, Business After Hours, All Candidates meetings, just to name a few. As in every organization or committee, its strength lies in its membership.


The Chamber has the following committees that are open to any member. If you are interested in participating in any of these committees, please contact the Executive Director.

Education Committee

Organizes business seminars in order to help local businesses be more successful through the introduction of new ideas and/or to stimulate thought and activity in areas needed for business success

Communications/PR Committee 

Coordinates communications to members and the public through the website, promotion of the Chamber, E-Chat newsletter, information pamphlets, etc. 

Membership Committee 

Helps promote and bring awareness of the benefits of becoming a member

Social Events 

Coordinates special events and any fundraising needed for Chamber events.

Awards Gala Committee 

Promotes businesses, organizations and individuals for outstanding performance in the Upper Ottawa Valley.

Voice of Business

Identifies, researches and advocates the business community's position relating to issues of economic development and public policy. This is an ad-hoc committee.

Policy and Procedures Committee 

Creates, reviews and maintains the policies and procedures for the board, committees, staff and is dictated by the various governments.
