2012 Lifetime Achievement Recipients Announced
During the Annual General Meeting of the Upper Ottawa Valley Chamber of Commerce outgoing President Gary Melnyk announced the 2012 Lifetime Achievement Award Recipient.
This year’s LifetimeBusiness Achievement Award Recipients are Daryl & Dwayne Blimke, founders and former owners of Laurentian View Dairy in Deep River, stated Mr. Melnyk. “They certainly exemplify all the criteria for this award. They operated the family business for over 60 years and that business continues as a valley landmark to this day.”
The Blimke Brothers, Dwayne (deceased 2006) and Daryl dedicated their efforts and endless hours to the establishment, advancement and success of the Dairy. Their proven commitment to their family business was witnesses and appreciated by the whole community when in 1985, the Dairy was destroyed by fire. Overwhelming support illustrated the importance of rebuilding this community landmark. The Dairy’s success was not only demonstrated through improvement to products and packaging and to health and safety, but also through local support to various teams, clubs, and community associations.

Pioneers in the dairy industry and restaurant business in the Ottawa Valley and beyond, the Blimke brothers proved their leadership time and time again. Recognition of their leadership and dedication has been shown on a number of occasions such as the Deep River Chamber of Commerce award recognizing their exceptional customer service, presented by the town’s mayor. Furthermore, Dwayne and Daryl demonstrated a commitment to the environment by implementing recyclable processes for all plastic and paper containers.
The official presentation of the award will take place during the Upper Ottawa Valley Chamber of Commerce Achievement Awards Gala on Saturday February 23, 2013.
