Annual Golf Tournament – Friday September 21st
Mark your calendar now for the annual Upper Ottawa Valley Chamber of Commerce Golf Tournament. The golf committee is hard at work putting together another fun day of networking on the golf course. This year’s tournament will be held at Whitetail Golf Course in Eganville.
Details:
Date: Friday September 21st, 2012
Where: Whitetail Golf Course, Eganville
Time: 1:00 pm shot gun start (Please arrive to check-in before 12:30 pm)
Cost: $95/player or $360/foursome (savings of $20) If paid before September 14th
(After September 14th the cost rises to $105/player)
Cost includes 18 holes, golf cart and casual BBQ dinner. Come spend the afternoon at the Best Public Course in Eastern Ontario & Western Quebec.

Mark Your Calendars Small Business Week – October 2012
Small Business Week will be observed October 15th to the 19th, 2012. This year the UOV Chamber of Commerce is pleased to be co-hosting with Enterprise Renfrew County the “Bridges to Better Business” event in Pembroke on Thursday October 18th. Watch for details on registration to be coming out in the next few weeks. The event will be a day-long event featuring keynote speaker Professor Bruce M. Firestone, Executive Director of Exploriem.org and who is best known as the Founder of the modern day Ottawa Senators. He is also Entrepreneur-in-Residence at the University of Ottawa’s Telfer School of Management and Real Estate Broker and Mortgage Broker at Century 21 Explorer Realty Inc. There will also be a tradeshow component to the event.
This event this year will replace our Small Business Week Tradeshow that we have traditionally held on the Friday of Small Business Week.

AECL Chalk River Laboratories Opens its Doors – August 11th
Atomic Energy of Canada Limited (AECL) is pleased to announce that it will open its doors to the public for the first time in over a decade this summer, when it hosts an Open House for the general public. Held at the Chalk River Laboratories on Saturday, August 11 from 9:30 am to 3:30 pm, the family-friendly event will give the public an opportunity to learn more about Canada’s premier nuclear science and technology organization, and some of the unique Canadian science facilities that call the Ottawa Valley home.
For anyone who is interested in attending the AECL Open House, pre-registration is required. The process is very straightforward, with participants being asked to go to www.aecl.ca/openhouse to fill out the registration form prior to August 10. Visitors are encouraged to attend the Open House with a current AECL staff member, AECL is please to offer tours for any interested member of the public

Algonquin College Offering A Media and Public Relations Course
Algonquin College in the Ottawa Valley will be offering a new Media and Public Relations course through night classes this fall. It will be offered over 3 nights beginning in mid-October at their new campus. Instructor for the course is Jamie Bramburger.
