From Our Members:
The Canadian Clock Museum – Renfrew County Museums Network
The Renfrew County Museums Network (RCMN) has just completed an exciting project that will help to bring all of our County museums to the forefront of tourism in the Ottawa Valley.
The RCMN was set up in 2002 to encourage the sharing of technical information and the mutual promotion of member museums throughout the County and beyond. The network applied for and received an Ontario Trillium Foundation grant in 2011 to develop a five-year strategic plan, a new brochure, and a first-ever web site.
Betty Biesenthal of Design House in Pembroke was hired to carry out member research and draft the plan. She also created a logo and brand for the network, and then incorporated them in the design of the web site and brochure, with input from a five-person RCMN committee.
The website is www.renfrewcountymuseums.org .  The home page includes a map that indicates the locations of all member listings. There are connections to Facebook, Twitter, and many more social media sites.
The new brochure is now available in various locations in the County, including the museums and the OVTA tourist information centres. It lists the addresses and telephone numbers of all twenty-three member museums, but is also state-of-the-art with a smart-phone QR code.
Membership in 2012 is almost double the original 2002 number, and there are several Heritage Tourism Partners that contribute to the network’s success.
