The Face of Business – NEW Video Opportunity Book Now for the Fall
The UOV Chamber of Commerce is giving its members an opportunity to showcase their business or organization, through the “Face of Business” video profiles. The Face of Business is a 3-5 minute video that discusses aspects of your business you wish to be featured. Your Face of Business will be advertised on myFM and will air for one week exclusively on the UOV Chamber of Commerce website. After that week, the video is yours to use as you wish. This provides you with an excellent promotional tool for your website, presentations and more.
 
The cost is $399 + taxes which includes all production, the promotion on myFM radio and the finished video for your own use. Videos will begin airing in the Fall of 2010. To book your spot contact the Chamber.
Festival Trees – November 2011

Do you remember Festival of Trees?  Did you participate in the past?

Renfrew County Child Poverty Action Network (CPAN) and Renfrew County United Way are working together to help local children in need and will be hosting Festival of Trees in 2011.

Pembroke Businesses - Pembroke Communities in Bloom Needs Your Help

The City of Pembroke is hosting the  International Communities in Bloom judges from July 26th - July 28th.  During their visit, they will be judging Pembroke on 8 differnt criteria:  Environmental Effort, Municipal Action, Community Involvement, Tidiness, Landscaped Areas, Heritage Conservation, Urban Forestry, Turf and Ground Cover, and comparing us to similar sized communities in Canada, United States and Europe.
Pembroke has proudly won both the Provincial award in 2000 and National award in 2007.
We are asking all businesses with mobile or changeable signage to help us welcome the international judges between July 23rd and July 28th. By placing a welcoming message “Welcome International Communities in Bloom judges!” or a reminder notice for residents that it’s “Time to Bloom! – Here come the Judges!” or any other similar message you will be helping to build vital public awareness.

Another Call for Participants to an Interesting Discussion on the Future Uses of Ultra Fast Internet  ($100 Honorium)

The Ultrafast Internet Focus Group Enrolment is Going well. We need more participants to come up with new ideas on the future uses of Ultrafast Internet. We are looking for Internet savvy individuals who would like to undertake many activities on the Internet including entertainment, home office, training, shopping and so on. If you are Internet savvy and would be able to contribute to innovative ideas on how to use an Ultrafast Internet please e-mail vasantha@sympatico.ca.  There will be no sales pitch. The discussion is not technical but focused on uses and applications. Simhan Research Associates is an independent research firm in Ottawa exploring new ideas for the use of ultrafast Internet in a project sponsored by the Canadian Space Agency.  Details: Date July 19th; sessions: 5.30 to 7.30 PM; 8 PM-10 PM; venue: Travel Lodge, the Algonquin room.

Volunteer Positions Available
If you are interested in volunteering with the UOV Chamber of Commerce, please let us know. Our meetings take place monthly for 30 minutes to one hour. They are an excellent way to network and be involved in some great events. Current volunteer opportunities exist on the following committees: Social Events, Education, Communications and Membership.
