Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Nominated for CCEC Executive of the Year
Upper Ottawa Valley Chamber of Commerce Executive Director, Lorraine MacKenzie has been nominated for the Chamber of Commerce Executives of Canada, Executive of the Year Award (under 100,00 population).
This award is for outstanding performance of a Chamber of Commerce/Board of Trade Manager, Managing Director, Executive Director, General Manager or CEO.
The winner of the award will be announced at the Awards Dinner during the Chamber of Commerce Executive of Canada Annual Meeting & Conference to be held September 23 – 25, 2010 in Gatineau, QC.
The Face of Business – NEW Video Opportunity Book Now for the Fall
The UOV Chamber of Commerce is giving its members an opportunity to showcase their business or organization, through the “Face of Business” video profiles. The Face of Business is a 3-5 minute video that discusses aspects of your business you wish to be featured. Your Face of Business will be advertised on myFM and will air for one week exclusively on the UOV Chamber of Commerce website. After that week, the video is yours to use as you wish. This provides you with an excellent promotional tool for your website, presentations and more.
 
The cost is $399 + taxes which includes all production, the promotion on myFM radio and the finished video for your own use. Videos will begin airing in the Fall of 2010. To book your spot contact the Chamber.
 
Annual Chamber Golf Tournament
Mark your calendars for Friday August 20th for the Annual Upper Ottawa Valley Chamber of Commerce Golf Tournament.  This year's tournament will be held at Roanoke Golf Course and will have a shotgun start at 1:00 pm
Cost: $75/person (before August 15th) $85/person ( after August 15th
This includes 18 holes of golf, cart, prize, & local food BBQ. On-course prizes including Hole-In-One contest for $10,000 sponsored by MYFM Radio, draws & more
Meal only: $20/person
Sponsorships available:
Hole sponsors $75/hole – men’s & women’s tees available
Various on-course contests – Donation of prize values at $50 or more
Golf Cart Sponsor : $250
Scorecard Sponsor: $100
Beverage Cart Sponsor: $250 for water| $500 for alcoholic beverage

Participants needs for Focus Group on Ultrafast Internet ($100 Honorium)
Simhan Research Associates (SRA) Inc. a management research firm in Ottawa, is conducting a series of focus groups in Pembroke, Almonte, and Mississippi Mils in the period of July 19 - 21.  SRA is conducting these focus groups on behalf of a team planning the next generation of ultrafast Internet services.  There will be two focus groups in each community which will last about 2 hours each.
They are looking for participants between 20 and 45 years of age who are Internet Savvy and would like to use the Internet for home office, educational and entertainment purposes in the future. They will offer an honorarium of $100 per person for their two hour participation. Refreshments will be provided.
All information will be held in strict confidence and only aggregate information will be released regarding the needs of each community.

Anyone with an interest in on-line videos, sports, education, training programs and is Internet savvy will find this discussion very interesting.

Free Seminar - Understanding the Basics of Advertising & Branding in Small Business

In conjunction with the County of Renfrew's 150th Anniversary, Ottawa Valley Business is putting together a DVD of 150 of the most influential people in business in Rrenfrew County and are seeking your submissions.

If you are interested in volunteering with the UOV Chamber of Commerce, please let us know. Our meetings take place monthly for 30 minutes to one hour.
