New Shorter Website Address & Email Address for the Chamber
The Upper Ottawa Valley Chamber of Commerce has a new shorter version of the website address and email address. The old version still remains in effect but if you want a shorter version please use the following.
Annual UOV Chamber of Commerce Golf Tournament – August 19th – Your Help is Needed!
We hope that you have the date of Friday August 19th written in on your calendar and you have booked the day to golf in the annual golf tournament. This year’s fun filled day of golf will be held at the Roanoke Golf Club on Biesenthal Road, Pembroke. Cost until August 12th is $75 per golfer (tax included). After August 12th it will increase to $85/golfer. This includes 18 holes of golf, power cart, local food BBQ supper, on course contests, prizes and a Hole in One Contest sponsored by MyFM Radio. Shot gun start is 1:00 pm.
The golf committee needs your help! We have the following sponsorship opportunities still available (as of July 15th)
Tee Sponsorships: $75/tee (your choice of Men’s or Ladies’) if you sponsor both on the same hole you have the opportunity to display a banner and have your staff man the hole.

Golf Cart Sponsorship: $250 A sign of every cart welcoming golfer to the UOV Chamber Golf Tournament) (approx 50 carts)
Beverage Cart Sponsorship: $250 – One bottle of water to each golfer and your sign on beverage cart for the day.
Prizes for Golfers: Each golfer should get a prize so we are looking for approximately 100 prizes. The prize table is always an important part of each tournament.

July 27th – UOV Chamber and Deep River Chamber Holding a Meeting on the Future Business Organization in the Deep River Area
You are invited to attend a meeting to discuss the opportunity of the Deep River Chamber to re-organize to become a branch of the Upper Ottawa Valley Chamber of Commerce,

Location: Chalk River Lions Hall, 11 Kellett Street, Chalk River
Time: 6:30 pm
Representatives from both Chambers of Commerce will be present to discuss the initiative and to answer any questions you may have. Please feel welcome to bring any questions you may have. To ensure everyone has appropriate time to bring their questions forward, a time allowance of five minutes per question/comment will be in practice.

2011 Upper Ottawa Valley Chamber of Commerce Awards Gala – January 28, 2012
Planning has started on the 2011 Awards Gala. Heading up the Gala committee this year is Board member Sue McCrae. The theme for the upcoming gala is “Building For Our Future”
Sue welcomes anyone who is interested in helping on the Gala committee to let the Chamber office know at 613-732-1492. The next meeting is set for July 19th at 8:15 am at Algonquin College, Room 219. If you are interested in attending please call Lorraine at the Chamber office.

Congratulations to Angela Johnston, Westmont Hospitality Group
The Upper Ottawa Valley Chamber would like to congratulate Chamber member Angela Johnston who was recently awarded the 2011 Northern Ontario Influential Women Award.
Over the past 14 years, Influential Women of Northern Ontario has profiled and honoured incredible women who have contributed to economic wealth and growth in the northern region. They are small business owners, young entrepreneurs, public sector employees and partners and managers in many businesses. These IW Alumni represent various communities and cities in the North – from Sioux Lookout, to Elliot Lake, to Kapuskasing, to Kenora and the five major cities in between.
OVWRC Obtains Capacity Expansion from MOE
The Ministry of Environment (MOE recently notified the Ottawa Valley Waste Recovery staff that the application for increased processing capacity at the Centre’s recycling facility has been approve.

This will allow the Centre to process an additional 4,000 tonnes of paper and container recyclables per year. For more information please visit www.ovwrc.com
Deadline to Register is Noon on July 18th! Ottawa Valley Creative Economy Conference July 26, 2011
Renfrew County Community Futures Development Corporation in association with the Ontario Trillium Foundation and the Federal Economic Agency for Southern Ontario will be holding “Ottawa Valley Creative Economy Conference” on July 26th, 2011 at the Marguerite Centre, 700 MacKay Street Pembroke. It will run from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm.
