Lunch Connections – Customer Service – June 22nd
The education Committee is pleased to announce that the guest speaker for the June Lunch Connections – Contact Who You Should Know, What You Should Know is Chris Hinsperger, Bonnechere Caves.  The topic is one that is very important with the summer season soon upon us, Customer Service. All are welcome to attend this informative and educational seminar.

Time: 11:45 am – 1:00 pm (registration at 11:30 am)

EXPO 150 – What An Event!
The organizers of EXPO 150 did a wonderful job of putting on this event. The attendance was over the top. The Chambers of Renfrew County had a combined booth and we thoroughly enjoyed the whole event.

2011 Upper Ottawa Valley Chamber of Commerce Awards Gala – January 28, 2012
Planning has started on the 2011 Awards Gala. Heading up the Gala committee this year is Board member Sue McCrae. The theme for the upcoming gala is “Building For Our Future”
Sue welcomes anyone who is interested in helping on the Gala committee to let the Chamber office know at 613-732-1492. The next meeting is set for June 23rd at 8:30 am at the Chamber office.
UOV Chamber to Hold Meeting in Barry’s Bay – June 27th
All businesses are invited to attend a special meeting that we will be holding in Barry’s Bay on Monday June 27th at 6:30 pm in the Council Chambers of the Municipal Building. Jennifer Layman, Membership Chair, says “we are holding this meeting for all businesses that wish to attend to find out more about the Upper Ottawa Valley Chamber of Commerce and its programs and services and what we have to offer businesses. We are especially inviting businesses in the Township of Madawaska Valley, Killaloe, Combermere, Wilno and the surrounding area.” Current Chamber members in the area are also invited to attend.
The meeting will start at 6:30 pm and all businesses are welcome to attend. In order for us to have sufficient copies of information we ask that anyone interested in attending call the Chamber office at 613-732-1492 or email manager@upperottawavalleychamber.com

Alterna Savings – 5th Annual BBQ Fundraiser June 17th
The Pembroke branch of Alterna Savings will be having their 5th annual BBQ to raise funds for cancer research on Friday June 17th at 680 Pembroke Street East, Pembroke. The BBQ runs from 11 am to 2 pm.

They are specifically raising funds for prostate cancer in conjunction with the Alterna Do It For Dad Family Walk/Run which will be held in Ottawa on June 19th.

2 Youth Entrepreneur Camps to Be Held This Summer
Renfrew County Community Futures Development Corporation is delighted to offer 2 Youth Entrepreneur Camps this summer.
Aspiring young entrepreneurs age 10 – 14 will meet successful entrepreneurs, shop for their own supplies, and run their business for a day. There will also be a variety of physical and team building activities which will make this a fun and dynamic summer camp experience.
Registration is available for July 17th to the 22nd, and August 7th to the 12th, each session will run for 5 nights and 6 days.
Thanks to the generosity of the Ontario Trillium Foundation and the Federal Economic Agency for Southern Ontario the cost of the camp is only $275.

Update from Wise Move Realty – Fundraising Event Held May 27th
A quick update of the Canadian Cancer Society Relay for Life Event held on May 27th.
Wise Move Realty Inc., brokerage held a “Yard & Bake Sale” raising donations totaling $603.52
Scotiabank Petawawa held a “Used Book Sale” which brought in $134.00
Beyond Nutrition donating 50 cents for every bottle of Cleansing & Detoxification Supplement/Program and also Weight Loss Products sold during the event hours, pledged $50.00
Euphoria Smoothie Bistro donated 25 cents from the sale of every Smoothie during the event for a total of $17.00
Precise Hair Design collected $33.00 in donations during this Charity event.
Thank you to everyone who made a donation and came out to support the Bridgeway Mall Fundraiser.

Dust off your dancin’ shoes – Michael Sicoly’s coming back to town!
Canadian vocalist and musician Michael Sicoly will be back in the Valley this October dazzling guests at the Pembroke Regional Hospital Foundation’s sixth annual signature event – the Black & White Gala. Event tickets and sponsorship opportunities are now available from the Foundation office located at PRH.

Renfrew County Community Futures Development Corporation in association with the Ontario Trillium Foundation and the Federal Economic Agency for Southern Ontario will be holding “Ottawa Valley Creative Economy Conference” on July 26th, 2011 at the Marguerite Centre, 700 MacKay Street Pembroke. It will run from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm.
