Atomic Energy of Canada Limited (AECL) is a leading-edge nuclear technology and services company providing services to utilities worldwide.  Over 5,000 highly skilled employees enthusiastically deliver a range of nuclear services: from scientific research & development support, construction management, design and engineering to specialized technology, waste management and decommissioning.

AECL's Chalk River Laboratories (CRL) are located in Chalk River, Ontario.  AECL's major research and development (R&D) efforts take place here, and the facility has world-class expertise in physics, metallurgy, chemistry, biology, and engineering.

The CRL contributes value to Canada through research, production of medical isotopes and safe management of nuclear waste.  An important part of the CRL's mission is to carry out the Government of Canada's policy mandate in support of Canadian nuclear technology and industry through its technology infrastructure, which includes nuclear laboratories and facilities.

In addition to the more than 2,800 permanent staff at CRL, AECL also employs co-op students and has an active summer employment program.  For over 50 years AECL has been safely and passionately developing peaceful and productive applications of nuclear energy right here in the Ottawa Valley
