MEMBERSHIP BENEFITS

A Strong Voice
The Chamber of Commerce has a membership of more than 300 local businesses, municipalities and organizations. There are Branches in Algonquin East and Deep River. We are the largest business organization in Renfrew County. Our members range from solopreneurs to the largest employers in our region with more than 3000 employees.

We are your voice of buisness. Membership in your local Chamber includes having the Canadian Chamber of Commerce lobby federally and the Ontario Chamber of Commerce lobby provincially on issues affecting businesses today.

Networking Opportunities
The Chamber offers opportunities such as our “Business After Hours” and breakfast seminars to connect with other businesses to share information and ideas.

Website
Each member receives promotion of their business on the Chamber website. Many municipalities and economic development organizations link to our website, thereby increasing exposure to members. We also encourage our members to link to us.

Chamber E-Chat Newsletter
Chamber members receive a twice-monthly newsletter informing them of important news relating to business in the area‚ Chamber programs and updates‚ upcoming events‚ new businesses‚ expansions‚ new locations‚ new services offered by current members and more. Members are able to submit articles and information to be included in “Chamber E-Chat.”

Referral Service
The Chamber receives numerous requests regarding businesses and services in the area. The staff provide a variety of information and referrals for businesses and services‚ local community events‚ directions and other information. The Chamber staff will always promote or recommend a Chamber member frst when dealing with those looking for information.

Social Events
There are two key social events on the Chamber calendar each year. The first is our Annual Golf Touranment, held in late summer. The second is our Business Awards Gala, held at the end of January each year. The Gala provides an opportunity for the community to nominate and recognize outstanding businesses. The Chamber hosts a special evening of festivities in honour of the nominated businesses.

Chambers of Commerce Group Insurance Plan
Launched in 1970, the non-profit Chambers of Commerce Group Insurance Plan is available exclusively to Chamber Members. The Chambers Plan provides "big business" benefits to small businesses and is known for its price stability, fair renewal rates, and innovative offerings. Chamber Personal Insurance Plan
The Chamber Personalized Insurance Plan (CPIP) offers you group insurance pricing for home and auto insurance. This program is unique to the Upper Ottawa Valley Chamber and is administered by Johnston & Mackie Limited. The coverage is available to UOV Chamber member businesses, their employees, their immediate families and retirees. TD Merchant Services
TD Merchant Services‚ the Canadian Chamber of Commerce and the Upper Ottawa Valley Chamber of Commerce bring this preferred rate program to you. The Application Fee is waived and rates are as follows:

  • VISA Merchant Discount Rate 1.59%
  • MASTERCARD Merchant Discount Rate 1.64%
  • Interac/Debit Transaction Fee $0.069 per transaction.

Fax Service
Members without fax machines are able to take advantage of our fax machine through the Chamber offce. Faxes can be sent locally free of charge. For faxes sent long distance‚ a cost of $1.00 applies. It is always free to have faxes received through the Chamber office.

MEMBERSHIP RATES

Membership fees are based on the number of full-time employees, including management. Part-time employees are calculated as 3 part-time = 1 full-time employees.
