A Strong Voice
The Chamber of Commerce is made up of hundreds of local businesses‚ and listens to the needs and concerns of its members. The Chamber has made it a mandate to lobby on behalf of its members to ensure a strong‚ vibrant business environment within the community.

The local Chamber can lobby your municipal government on local issues affecting you and your business. Membership in your local Chamber includes having the Canadian Chamber of Commerce lobby federally and the Ontario Chamber of Commerce lobby provincially on issues affecting businesses today.

Many voices create a stronger more powerful voice. If you have an issue that you would like the Chamber to get involved with‚ please fll out our issues assessment form.

Networking Opportunities

The Chamber offers opportunities such as our “Business After Hours” and breakfast seminars to connect with other businesses to share information and ideas.

Your Chamber has organized various seminars and workshops for its members during the past year.

Chamber Chatter Newsletter

Chamber members receive a monthly newsletter informing them of important news relating to business in the area‚ chamber programs and updates‚ upcoming events in the area‚ new businesses joining and updates‚ expansions‚ new locations‚ new services offered by current members. Members are able to submit articles and information to be included in “Chamber Chatter”.

Referral Service

The Upper Ottawa Valley Chamber of Commerce receives numerous requests regarding businesses and services in the area. The staff provide a variety of information and referrals for businesses and services‚ local community events‚ directions and other information. The Chamber staff will always promote or recommend a Chamber member frst when dealing with those looking for information.

Social Events

Annual Golf Tournament - Held each year at one of the local golf courses.
Awards Gala - An opportunity for the community to nominate and recognize outstanding businesses. The Chamber hosts a special evening of festivities in honour of the nominated businesses. The Awards Gala is held every January.

Group Insurance Plan

The Chambers of Commerce Group Insurance Plan was launched over a quarter century ago by Chamber interests with members interests at heart. Smaller employers have tradionally had a tough time getting quality group benefts. That’s why 19‚000 frms across Canada participate in the Canada Plan‚ available exclusively with Chamber membership.

Upper Ottawa Valley Chamber Personal Insurance Plan - The Chamber Personalized Insurance Plan (CPIP) offers you the best value on your home and auto insurance rates while still maintaining the individual service that Johnston & Mackie Limited is known to deliver. Johnston & Mackie Ltd. (a local
insurance company) is pleased to present this plan as a way to offer UOV Chamber member businesses, their employees, their immediate families and retirees benefts that are usually only allocated to larger corporations with substantial policy holdings. TD Merchant Services‚ the Canadian Chamber of Commerce and the Upper Ottawa Valley Chamber of Commerce bring this preferred rate program to you. It will help you save money while making money with preferential credit card and debit card transaction rates. ( Application Fee - Waived; VISA Merchant Discount Rate 1.68%; MASTERCARD Merchant Discount Rate 1.79%; Interac/Debit Transaction Fee $0.09 per transaction; All rates are subject to change if business primarily done by phone or mail. Fax Service

Members without fax machines are able to take advantage of our fax machine through the Chamber offce. Faxes can be sent locally free of charge. For faxes sent long distance‚ a cost of $1.00 applies. It is always free to have faxes received through the Chamber office.

MEMBERSHIP RATES

Membership fees are based on the number of full-time employees, including management. Part-time employees are calculated as 3 part-time = 1 full-time employees.
