Time is running out to make submissions for the Upper Ottawa Valley Chamber of Commerce Annual Achievement Awards. Deadline for submission is Monday November 30, 2009 at 4:00 pm. This year’s gala is set for Saturday January 16, 2010 at the Germania Hall in Pembroke. Tickets are $60/person and will soon be going on sale through the Chamber office.

 

Award categories and criteria for winning have been updated so those wishing to submit nominations should check out the list of award categories and the criteria on the Chamber’s website at www.upperottawavalleychamber.com  . Nominations can be submitted on-line or the nomination forms can be downloaded from the site and faxed or dropped off to the Chamber office.  

 

Gail Richardson, president of the Chamber explains, “We depend on businesses and the general public to submit nominations of deserving businesses and organizations in the area. This is our way to celebrate business excellence in the Upper Ottawa Valley and without nominations we don’t have an awards gala.” There are 9 categories available for public nomination; Young Entrepreneur, Small Business (1 to 7 employees), Medium Business (8 – 24 employees), Large Business (over 25 employees), Farm Enterprise, New Business, Community Organization of the Year, Citizen of the Year and new this year the 2009 Feature Award – Environmental.  Ms Richardson continued,  " As an added bonus anyone submitting a nominations will have their name entered for a chance to win a pair of tickets to an Ottawa Senators' hockey game."

 

In addition to the 9 categories listed above, the Upper Ottawa Valley Chamber of Commerce also awards Chamber Member of the Year and the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award.  This year's recipient will be announced in advance at the Chamber's Annual General Meeting on Dec 3rd.

 

For anyone not having access to the internet they can contact the Chamber office to have a nomination form and criteria either faxed to them or dropped off. Nominations will be accepted on-line, by email manager@upperottawavalleychamber.com , by fax (613-732-5793) or can be dropped off or mailed to the UOV Chamber of Commerce office at 611 TV Tower Road, P.O.
